My wife is Alisa and we have been married since 2010. We have three amazing kids, Laine, Lucie, and Levi.
Haven completely changed the way I viewed church.
I used to think I didn’t need to go to church to be close to God... I thought I was covered by watching church on Facebook live from the comfort of my own home... I had no idea what I was missing! Haven provided me with the community that I so desperately wanted and needed. It cultivated relationships that are authentic and real. It’s a safe place where one can be fully known and deeply loved... It’s a place that you can call home! And for me, Haven is home.
The closest thing I can compare Haven to is…
family, where everyone has each other’s back. It is a place where even the person next to you is readily at your side, whether it be to encourage and cheer you on as you face any challenge, or to simply sit, listen, and struggle alongside you. I have seen real relationships that have been built on the genuineness and compassion of everyone who calls Haven their home, where you don’t have to pretend to be anyone else but yourself. This community embraces the truth found in the gospel...that we are all broken people yet loved more than we could ever desire. This truth has never been as real to me as it has since I’ve called Haven my home.
Haven gave me a safe place…
…to talk openly about my struggles with faith and religion, as well as a close-knit group of people to help me slowly come to understand more of what it means to be a Christian. Haven has given me a second family, a second home, and a second heart; and I couldn’t be more grateful for this amazing church!
